Let’s have a World Series, shall we?

Game 1 of the World Series… My phone died in the 1st and my head exploded in the 3rd, so I was unreachable.

A few of you rotten children have been to a World Series, so I’ll spare you the gushy details about the bunting and flyover… but I went for free. At 1:47 pm I wasn’t going to the World Series, and by 2 PM I was walking into a meeting trying to get done by 3:00 so I could get picked up to go ride up 101 in a 2012 Toyota Sequoia and sit in the club level behind home plate. My seat (213-D-7) was within a fuel can’s throw of Joe Buck, who sat next to Flem and the KNBR guys. I had 4 beers bought for me. Three were Lagunitas which more than makes up for the time I laid at their Petaluma brewery sick in the shade of a small tree for Cody’s 30th. The 4th was a Gordon Biersch because the guy tending to me at my seat had one on him right then and there and I said sure. Ah, baseball.

Oh and Panda made history, so there was that. I was watching that third shot directly beneath McCarver as I was trying to crop dust him. Not trying to be funny, that is just where I happened to be when Pablo hit #3. The ballpark wasn’t the same after that, I guess no player has hit three jacks there since opening day in Y2K. My ticket stub is already laminated. Zito added more sauce to the enchilada and he’s now worthy of another $126M in my book. WTF Zito?

All that said, there is something to be said about watching an epic game with coworkers/customers versus bros/friends. The jokes only go so far. They die at the warning track. NLCS game 6 with my bro goes down as an all time great along with Grissom’s walk off on BoBo night with Joe & Co. in 2005. And of course Timmy’s 14 K’s in 2010 against the Braves in the NLDS when we all met at Public House after. Shit. Good times.

Giants up 1-0. Let’s have a World Series, shall we?
